Brucellosis Rapid Test

NOVA Test ® brucellosis test cassette is a chromatographic immunoassay (CIA) for direct qualitative detection of Brucella antibody in human serum or plasma.

Brucellosis Total antibody Test

Intended Use

The Brucellosis Rapid Test is a chromatographic immunoassay (CIA) for direct qualitative detection of Brucella antibody in human serum or plasma specimen, and is intended to be used as an aid in the diagnosis and treatment of brucellosis. It is intended to be used by professionals such as clinical laboratories, or the near-patient settings such as ambulance; and this brucella antibody test is for in-vitro diagnosis (IVD) use only.

Brucellosis

Brucellosis is strictly aerobic, Gram-negative coccobacillus which causes Brucellosis. This organism is sometimes carried by animals and only causes incidental infections in humans. Brucellosis can enter human body by physical contacts, such as via skin, respiratory tract, or digestive tract. For example, if the the brucella infected meat is not boiled thoroughly, it can enter the digestive tract of the victim after eating it. Once there, this intracellular organism can enter the blood and the lymphatics where it multiplies inside phagocytes and eventually cause bacteremia (bacterial blood infiltration). Symptoms vary from patient to patient but can include high fever, chills, and sweating.

A negative result by a brucella antibody test does not rule out infection of Brucellosis, especially during the early stage of the infection, because the Brucellosis antibody may not be present in sufficient quality. And icteric, lipemic, hemolysed, heat treated and contaminated sera may cause erroneous results. To confirm the disease, it must be combined with symptoms and the testing result of other clinical methods.

Brucellosis Test Principle

Brucellosis rapid screen test kit is a chromatographic immunoassay (CIA) for the detection of Brucella total antibody in human serum or plasma. Specific brucella antigens are pre-coated on membrane as a capture reagent on the test region. During the test, specimen is allowed to react with the antigens firstly. And then chasing buffer mixed with Protein A, which conjugated with colloidal gold, will flow onto the membrane. If Brucellosis antibody presents in the specimen, a pink colored band will develop on the area of membrane, when the colloidal gold complexes are captured by the precoated brucella antigens. Absence of this pink colored band in the test region suggests a negative result. To serve as a procedural control, a pink colored band in the B region will always appear regardless the presence of Brucellosis antibody.
